Jonathan Thompson
Jonathan was born in Indianapolis where he graduated high school at the age of 17 and finished one year of architecture school at Ball State University. Prompting a family move to Austin, he continued his education at Austin Community College and completing his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Jonathan worked throughout high school and college along side his father in the window film industry for over 18 years. Jonathan took over the family business in 2007 and continues to work with his father growing SUNsational Solutions to over 6 employees. He was recently married in 2009 and currently resides in Central Austin. You can usually find Jonathan, his wife, and their dogs camping, exploring Central Texas, checking out local music and going for evening bicycles rides around town or at Walnut Creek.
Dan Ellis
Dan Ellis (Master Installer) was born in Iowa and moved to Austin over 25 years ago. Dan and his wife have two boys. Dan’s experience with the glass industry for over 15 years working with companies like Binswanger lead him to career change to window film over 12 years ago. Dan has worked with most brands of window films. Dan has been a part of the SUNsational Solutions team since 2005, we are proud to have him aboard. In 2007 Dan completed and became a Solar Control Film Specialist by the IWFA. Today Dan enjoys catching a few live music shows in Austin and going fishing with his two boys.
Chris Smith
Chris Smith (Master Installer) is originally from Michigan. Chris rode his motorcycle down to the great state of Texas in 2007 and has done quite a bit of traveling over the years, but even when visiting, Austin has always felt like home. From the wonderful scenery to the friendly population, this city has everything he could ask for. Through his adult life Chris has continued his scholastic education in many ways, including becoming a registered pharmacy technician, his passion has always been in the technical trades. Before moving to Austin years he has been building and remodeling homes. He decided to move further into a specialized trade by becoming an active member in the window film industry. In November 2009 he became certified to install safety film and in 2010 became a Solar Control Film Specialist with the IWFA. When he is not working, he enjoys riding his motorcycle and attempts to ride as often as he can. This still leaves him with enough time to catch a concert or two once in a while, or occasionally dust off his skateboard and push around town. Although he has no pets of his own, he is a big animal lover and gets to play surrogate master to a great group of dogs and cats that his close friends own. He is still finding things to love about this great city and is excited to help make this place “greener” one home at a time.
Jeff Thompson
Jeff Thompson is a well respected entrepreneur in the Window Film Industry. He has been an active member of the IWFA (International Window Film Association) since 1992. He has been in constant contact with local and federal representatives, speaking out to protect the rights of consumers in the window film market, both for commercial/ residential and automotive.
Originally from Indiana, he met his wife in Florida in 1975 and married in 1977. He returned to Indiana where he continued his studies at I.U. P.U.I. in 1978. In 1986, Jeff and his wife started their business and opened a chain of stores in Indianapolis. Jeff became a Solar Control Film Specialist by the IWFA in 1992. They sold the chain of stores in Indianapolis in 1998 and moved to the Texas Hill Country. Shortly after the move, SUNsational Solutions was launched specializing and focusing on commercial, residential, safety and security films.
In 2007 Jeff’s son Jonathan took over the family business. Today both Jeff and Jonathan work together building the business. Jeff and his wife enjoy living on their 60 acre ranch in Bertram, Texas where they raise Tennessee Rocky Mountain horses and Belted Galloways.
Sam Sullivan
Sam Sullivan was born in Arkansas where he attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Sam has been a Texas resident for the past 35 years working with building supplies and real estate services and has continued that passion by joining the SUNsational Solution’s team in February 2009. Sam’s main role is to coordinate projects between our clients and management staff to provide the utmost in customer satisfaction. Sam’s passion for gardening keeps him very busy on the weekends.
Sharon Steigerwalt
Sharon Steigerwalt is the office administrative assistant and has a Bachelors degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resources. While Sharon was born in Idaho, her family was in the military so she has traveled all over the US and overseas. She lived in Germany for 6 years and while her family was stationed there she learned to ski in Austria. Sharon moved to Austin from Utah in 2002 and now calls Austin home. She enjoys riding her motorcycle, going out to the lake and has a passion for music, the outdoors and traveling to new places including Ireland and London in 2008 and hopes visit more places in the near future.
