What are safety and security films?

Clear multi-layer polyester adhered to a window with strong adhesives designed to withstand large amounts of force to prevent intrusions, prevent damage from natural disasters and vandalism.

Testing

Safety films have been extensively tested by independent testing facilities and meet Safety Glazing criteria as defined by CPSC, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Council and Underwriters Laboratories.

Blast Protection

The powerful blast from a bomb can cause immeasurable destruction. It would seem that windows shattering would be the least of it, but a single square foot of glass can produce up to 200 deadly, razor- sharp fragments. Flying glass shards often the cause of severe injury, and even death.

Our Safety & Security systems are specifically engineered and tested to meet stringent federal and state mandated standards, more so than any other manufacturer in the industry.

Anti-Intrusion

Windows are, and always have been, the quickest way for people to gain access to someplace they’re not supposed to be.  And if they’re going in through a smashed window, it’s usually because time is something they don’t have much of.

Stop intruders in their tracks with our safety films.  When struck, the glass will break, but not shatter, preventing the intruder from entering quickly and leaving him wondering what to do next. In most cases, the answer is simple: move on.

Anti-Graffiti

Vandalism is more than just a nuisance and eyesore, it’s also a huge financial drain to public and private budgets.  The cost of repeatedly replacing windows and glass that has been scratched up or marked with spray-paint can end up being prohibitive, not to mention time consuming and disruptive.

When vandals do strike, it won’t be permanent.  The window stays put, and just the film is replaced, at a fraction of the cost.

Storm Protection

Hurricanes and tornadoes can do untold damage to your business. And the first step towards minimizing damage begins with protecting your windows.  Safety films are clear, strong and engineered to bond with glass, creating a barrier that holds the window together in the worst of conditions.  Help keep windows from shattering into hundreds of deadly fragments, while helping prevent further damage to your business caused by rushing wind, water and flying debris.  Unlike shutters or plywood, window film does not need to be installed each time a storm approaches.  Window film provides passive protection twenty-four hours a day. Laboratory tests show that our 8mil clear improves the performance of 1/4″ plate glass by 28%, allowing it to withstand >200 MPH winds* (Tested at American Testing Laboratories of South Florida 4/03).

Offers more protection than 1/2″ plywood

Our 15 mil film is capable of withstanding the impact of a 9 pound 2″ x 4″ traveling at a rate of 34 mph.  That same 2″ x 4″ will penetrate a sheet of 1/2″ exterior grade plywood. It improves the strength of annealed glass by over 28% LCL-800 and tested on residential picture window with 6mm annealed glass to withstand the equivalent of 208 mile per hour wind speeds.
